Utf 8 charset doesn't work with javax mail. Ask Question. SetText(message, 'UTF'), so both for subject and content the encoding must be set. – Joop Eggen Feb 23 '13 at 18:36. This filter sets the encoding to be UTF-8 and force the encoding to all requests comming at the url ' /. '. Feb 20, 2019 In short, in the last few major macOS upgrades (10.11?) Mail.app doesn't properly decode international character sets in the From field, and sometimes the subject line. The picture shows what it looks like, and below is the raw source so you can see the headers and encoding. (content snipped, and email replaced with [email protected]).

@DmitryStreblechenko - I just stumbled on this old thread. It seems Outlook (2010) rules don't filter text that's UTF8-encoded. So filtering on subject 'foo' won't find that text when it's encoded by the sender, but it's easily visible in the UI. I'm now looking for a solution, with VBA to decode and resave headers prior to processing by native filters, or to decode and do all filtering in VBA or other code.

I have an old version of Redemption, I dunno if that would be useful here. Does Office 365 or 2016 do better in this area?–Aug 3 '18 at 17:48.
